NEW, Less Painful Surgery for Hemorrhoids !!!!!

The term hemorrhoids refers to a condition in which the veins around the anus or lower rectum are swollen and inflamed. Hemorrhoids may result from straining and chronic constipation, pregnancy, aging, or diarrhea.

They are divided into two hemorrhoidal cushions: internal (inside and above the anus) or external (under the skin around the anus). Depending on the severity hemorrhoids are classified into four degrees. Although many people have hemorrhoids, not all experience symptoms.

The most common signs of internal hemorrhoids are: bright red blood covering the stool or toilet paper. Long lasting hemorrhoids may protrude through the anus outside the body, becoming irritated and painful (prolapsing hemorrhoids). Symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus which appears when a blood clot forms (thrombosed hemorrhoid).

Although they can cause problems, usually they are eliminated by simple office techniques. However, some (prolapsing, bleeding hemorrhoids) require surgical removal (excision hemorrhoidectomy). Traditional surgery is very effective. Unfortunately can be painful. Recently the new procedure has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is markedly better tolerated and less painful.  It is called “stapled hemorrhoidectomy” or “PPH stapling hemorrhoidectomy”. During the surgery the internal hemorrhoidal cushions are removed and the blood vessels feeding the hemorrhoids are disrupted (partially removed). Since the tissue removed is above the sensitive part of the anus, patients experience less pain and return faster to normal activities as compared to traditional hemorrhoidectomy.
